Uh, oh.  The dreaded Commision has heaved itself over the horizon.  A former employee wants me to do a portrait - of her brown Labrador Retriever!  Oh, well, I'll give it a shot, I guess.  Nothing like working outside your comfort margins, as Marie keeps telling me.

I did my latest from the same shoot with the same model, little Sunny.  Once again, I did the background first, and I think it really does better.

My latest Deviation, "A Sunny Day," was done in a new way.  I had read in a book, Ann Kullberg's, I think, that you should do the background first, because that is not what you are primarily interested in, and then do the subject.  That way, you are much less likely to skimp or rush the background, which is, after all, what gives the subject context.  I found that it is frustrating, but certainly turns out better backgrounds.

Had a very strange experience, last week.  I was dreaming about Aribeth, which I never do, and she was attacked and struck down by an evil man, whom I promptly slew by cutting the top of his head off.  I picked Ari up, thinking she was dead, and I walked past a strange knight.  I asked him tearfully if she was dead.  He put his hand on her and said she was just injured, and that I should heal her by laying on of hands.  I asked if he could do it, and he replied that only I could.  I thanked him, found a bed, and laid her body down on it.  I laid my hand over her heart and exerted my will, not expecting anything.  Then, her armour dissolved in a blinding light, and I had the strongest tactile sensation of her breast.  She gave me a look, which I have tried to duplicate, from a picture of Nicole Kidmnan that I found in my files, and then I covered her up and lay down at her feet.  Then, I woke up.  Strange!
